Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) Information Technology Services

The Department of Defense (DoD) Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) was established to improve federal government employees with dexterity, hearing, visual, cognitive and communication disabilities access to electronic and information technologies. Axiom experts research and test assistive technologies that bring equipment within the reach of employees with disabilities. We acquire and maintain the program’s inventory of the most effective software and devices, and inform federal government managers of the program’s benefits. Axiom internet communications experts designed a website that greatly improved the program’s reach and efficient operations.  The site links to the program’s secure database that holds more than 3 million records. The website’s interactive features are completely accessible, allowing prospective participants to undertake comprehensive needs assessments, request program services, and evaluate the program’s benefits. The website and its applications have assisted CAP managers to grow the program into the single largest provider of accessibility accommodations to the federal workforce.

USDA Target Center

Axiom is recognized as an industry leader in the assistive technologies that enable individuals with disabilities to access the modern, electronic workplace. When the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched a program to provide a “one-stop shop” capable of delivering comprehensive accessibility support services to every USDA employee, its Technology Accessible Resources Give Employment Today (TARGET) Center, turned to Axiom for support. Our subject matter experts conducted disability and ergonomic assessments, maintained a detailed knowledge of existing and emerging assistive technologies, and matched each customer with optimum tools. Our team helped manage the Department’s inventory of assistive technologies, offered training on its use, and provided the communications support necessary to ensure that all Department employees are aware of this important resource. As a result, all USDA managers knew how to respond promptly when an employee with a disability requested accommodations.  We also provided information technology support services to assistive technology users throughout their employment lifecycle.
