NSF Instructional Technology Program

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is a leader in the vigorous and dynamic use of information technology to advance the agency mission. NSF had the need to design, develop, deliver, implement, and evaluate a full range of instructional design and instructional technology services and programs including  instructor-led training (ILT), distance learning (Adobe Connect and WebEx), and web-based training (WBT) to approximately 2000 staff, visiting scientists and contractors at NSF. Axiom staffed NSF’s Instructional Technology Program (ITP) with five highly qualified instructional system designers who also possess skillsets in web programming, graphic design, desktop publishing, project management, communications and marketing, SCORM, and 508 compliance. During the initial two years of this contract, Axiom has produced 20 web courses, conducted 30 plus instructor-led training courses, conducted multiple Adobe Connect distance learning training sessions, videotaped numerous town hall and expert speaker training sessions, created numerous 508 tagged job aids, and stood up NSF’s state-of-the-art Virtual Learning Center (VLC). In addition, a communications and marketing campaign is continually underway to promote the products across the departments at NSF.

NSF Instructional Technology Program

The Care Management and Social Work Service in collaboration with the Employee Education System (EES), both of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), required the development of curriculum to support VHA professionals providing case management services who may not all be trained in the basic principles of case management and may not all have the knowledge or skills to integrate these principles in a collaborative healthcare practice model. The purpose of this training is to address this knowledge and skill gap within the VA healthcare continuum. Axiom was tasked with the development of curriculum storyboards and one 60 minute web course on The Principles of Case Management for web-based training for Case Managers in VHA facilities nationwide. Axiom conducted a three day face-to-face SME conference to capture the essential content changes for the Principles of Case Management course, having previously developed classroom based-training content for case managers nationwide. The course was storyboarded and programmed with Section 508 compliance and SCORM 1.2 conformance. Axiom also provided adjustments to the VA WBT issued templates where necessary in order to comply with test requirements for course delivery on the VA Talent Management System (TMS).
