Axiom's CESSI Division Wins $14 Million Education Dept. Contract
October 3, 2005
Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc., kicked off the new fiscal year by announcing that its CESSI Division had just won an important new contract to support the activities of the federal Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR). The government-wide committee coordinates research on methods to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. The five-year, $14 million contract was awarded by the U.S. Department of Education.
"This is a huge win for the CESSI Division," said Kevin Riley, Axiom's Chief Financial Officer, "not just because of the contract's value but also because it connects CESSI to so many other federal agencies."
The contract requires CESSI to support information exchange and coordination among ICDR member agencies; to collect and analyze current information to help guide decisions about the direction of the federal research agenda and stimulate collaborations; and to share information with disability and rehabilitation constituencies, the President and Congress, and the general public.
"We won a fierce competition," said Betsy Tewey, CESSI's ICDR project manager. "I am very proud of the team that is currently providing excellent support to the client and pleased that we can continue our work for the next five years."
Ms. Tewey also acknowledged that New Editions Inc., a subcontractor to CESSI on this effort, was instrumental in helping CESSI secure this contract. "Shelia Newman, the president of New Editions, has been working with this client for years," Ms. Tewey said. Together, CESSI and New Editions assembled a team that couldn't be beat.
