Axiom Golf Tournament Raises Over $28,000 for Fisher House Foundation

October 15, 2008

Falls Church, Virginia. Mother Nature delivered perfect golf weather today, 75 degrees and sunny for Axiom Resource Management's Annual Golf Tournament in support of Fisher House Foundation. The tournament was held on the Gunston Course at Fort Belvoir, Va., and raised $28,859. This is the all-time fundraising record for an Axiom golf tournament. Axiom has hosted five tournaments in support of Fisher House Foundation, and has raised more than $119,000 during that period.

Fisher Houses provide lodging for military members and their families during the period when the service member is recovering from combat wounds, illness, or serious injury. Fisher Houses are located on the campuses of military and veterans medical centers, offering military families the chance to lodge as close as possible to hospitalized loved ones. The program also provides free air travel to families so they can join their loved ones at a Fisher House during the period of recovery or rehabilitation.

"We are extremely proud of our relationship with Fisher House," said Kevin Riley, Axiom Managing Partner. "Not only do Fisher Houses provide outstanding support for wounded service members and their families, but studies have shown the Fisher House Foundation to be one of the best-run philanthropic organizations in America."

Jim Weiskopf, Fisher House Vice President for Communications, spoke at the post-golf luncheon. He noted that the proceeds from this tournament will go to Fisher Houses in the Washington area, including support for a new Fisher House, to be built on the grounds of the new Walter Reed National Medical Center.

Axiom Managing Partner Doug Peardon noted that this year's tournament hosted more Fisher House residents, Walter Reed Warrior Transition Brigade members, and Quantico Marine Base Wounded Warrior Regiment members than any previous Axiom tournament. "It is an honor to be in the presence of these American heroes. It's also a lot of fun just playing a relaxed round of golf with them," he said.
