Axiom Annual Golf Tournament Benefits Fisher House Foundation
October 27, 2011
Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc. held its annual golf tournament on Wednesday, October 26th to benefit Fisher House Foundation. Fisher Houses provide temporary lodging for families of wounded members of the U.S. Armed Forces, during the period when the service member is undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
This year marks the eighth time Axiom has hosted the tournament in support of Fisher House Foundation. The participating golfers represented 18 different companies that co-sponsored the event, helping Axiom raise $31,200 to fund Fisher House operations-- and a cumulative total of more $208,000 since the inaugural tourney in 2004.
“Fisher Houses are the best friend a military family can have in times of need,” said Axiom managing partner Kevin Riley at the tournament luncheon. “The Axiom family is pleased to offer our support to Fisher House Foundation.”
The Fisher House Foundation operates 40 homes on the grounds of military and veterans’ hospitals, providing housing at no charge to families visiting ill or injured loved ones. It finances air fare for families that must travel great distances to visit recovering patients. They also provide scholarship support for the children of critically wounded warriors. To date, more than 140,000 families have benefited from Fisher House Foundation operations.
Accepting the check at the reception, Mr. Derek Donovan, Vice President, Fisher House Foundation, reviewed the foundation’s programs addressing the needs of all military families, especially those of troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. “The Fisher House is dedicated to serving the men and women in uniform and their families,” he said. “We are honored to have the support of the men and women of Axiom.”
